Where Will DCE Land in 2026? Roosters, Dolphins, Cowboys — Or a Shock Move to France?
The NRL world is buzzing with speculation about the future of Daly Cherry-Evans, after the veteran star officially confirmed he will not re-sign with the Manly Sea Eagles. With the door now firmly closed on continuing his career at the only club he’s ever played for in the NRL, all eyes are on where DCE might end up next.
At 36, Cherry-Evans is nearing the twilight of his stellar career — but he’s not ruling out one more chapter. According to reports from CODE Sports, the Queensland halfback is keeping all options on the table: retirement is a possibility, but so is playing on with a new club in 2026.
The two frontrunners in the NRL race are reportedly the Sydney Roosters and The Dolphins, both seen as strong contenders who could use a veteran presence in the halves. In a twist that adds even more intrigue to the story, a former Maroons teammate has claimed that a deal with the Roosters is already “done.”
But the plot thickens.
Cherry-Evans is also said to be open to a bold overseas move — potentially heading to France to join Catalans Dragons in the English Super League. It wouldn’t be the first time a top Aussie player looked to finish their career in Europe, but DCE taking that leap would certainly make waves.
Meanwhile, his current Queensland Origin coach, Billy Slater, is reportedly pushing for the North Queensland Cowboys to make a move — adding yet another layer to the unfolding drama.
So the question remains: will DCE chase one more NRL title with the Roosters or Dolphins? Will he take a chance on a new life in the south of France with Catalans? Or will he opt to ride into the sunset with a final season in Townsville under the Cowboys banner?
One thing’s certain — this offseason saga is just getting started.
