Hobart Clinches 2025 NCAA DIII Men’s Hockey Championship in Thrilling Victory!

The Hobart Statesmen won the 2025 NCAA Division III men’s hockey championship for the third straight season, defeating Utica 2-1 in overtime. Kahlil Fontana scored the game-winning goal with less than two minutes left in OT. Hobart finished the season with an overall record of 29-1-1.

The Statesmen become the third program to win at least three consecutive titles in DIII men’s ice hockey history.

The victory ended in similar fashion as the team’s first championship in 2023, where Wil Crane won it in overtime to beat Adrian 3-2.

The 2025 DIII men’s ice hockey championship began Saturday, March 15. Fourteen teams made the tournament, with 10 teams receiving automatic qualifier bids and four receiving at-large bids into the tournament.
