Lauren McNally Joins Field Hockey Coaching Staff, Bringing New Energy and Expertise!

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard field hockey is adding Lauren McNally to its coaching staff as a new assistant ahead of the 2025 season this fall. McNally brings a wealth of experience and success to the Crimson, joining Harvard after a four-year stint with Middlebury.

“I am truly honored and excited to joining the Harvard field hockey program and being a part of such a prestigious institution,” McNally said. “I look forward to contributing to the team’s success and working alongside Tjerk, Kiley and the student-athletes.”

McNally pushed Middlebury to incredible heights and national success across four seasons as an assistant coach. From 2021 to 2024, McNally helped Middlebury win four consecutive NCAA Division III NCAA National Championships, extending the university’s historic national title streak to seven. During McNally’s tenure, Middlebury orchestrated two perfect 22-0 records in 2021 and 2023.

Under McNally’s guidance, two Panthers earned NFHCA Division III National Player of the Year honors, Amy Griffin in 2023 and 2024 and Erin Nicholas in 2021. 12 student-athletes garnered National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America honors across McNally’s time with the Panthers, including nine first team honorees. In 2022, McNally also mentored Nicholas to the 2022 Honda Division III Athlete of the Year award.

McNally was a member of a nationally recognized Middlebury coaching staff, as the Panthers coaching staff earned NFHCA Division III National Coaching Staff of the Year honors three years in a row from 2021 to 2023. Prior to her time with Middlebury, McNally spent a year with Castleton as a graduate assistant in 2020.

As a student-athlete, McNally was a key contributor for Penn State for five seasons, helping the Nittany Lions win the Big Ten in 2016. McNally was also a four-time All-Big Ten Academic Team selection.

A native of Ocean City, New Jersey, McNally graduated from Penn State with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, as she also holds a master’s degree in athletic leadership from Castleton.
