Reports of secret emails between the Sea Eagles and the camp of Daly Cherry-Evans have shrouded the ongoing public relations battle between the two parties in further mystery.
The situation blew up on Sunday following Manly’s win over the Eels when Cherry-Evans accused unnamed people of running a ‘smear campaign’ against him following his decision to leave the club at the end of the season.

Manly CEO Tony Mestrov is believed to be the target of Cherry-Evans’ ire.
Given the Sea Eagles are among the premiership contenders this season, the club don’t want this situation derailing the season with Fox League’s James Hooper stating the two parties have “declared an uneasy truce”.
“It’s getting very murky the DCE stalemate. I think they’ve basically declared an uneasy truce at the moment,” Hooper said on NRL360.
“Everybody at Manly realises they have to bunjer down and give themselves the best chance for the top four.”
However, tensions are continuing to bubble with NRL360 host Braith Anasta revealing that both sides have laid claims to possessing emails which contradict each side’s version of events.

“The warring camps are threatening to release emails. What are they alleged to be these emails?” Anasta put to the NRL360 panel.
“The emails, do they exist or don’t they exist? No one seems to know.”
“Daly’s camp were seeking a contract worth between $1 and $1.2 million. That’s what they value his worth on the open market at. Manly are adamant they exist,” Hooper responded.
Anasta then interjected with another report which claimed Cherry-Evans’ camp haven’t received any emails but that “they’ve got emails (from Manly)” as well which they could release.
“Another reporter is saying Daly’s camp has never received anything ever and that they’ve got emails (as well).
“That’s the conflict,” The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio said.
“There are a lot of claims about emails. We might have to call the cyber police,” Hooper quipped.
